Here are some of the great features of 3

, The music on 'III' is stronger then ever and continues in a direction that fans of Hard and Progressive rock bands like Symphony X, Dream Theater or Queensryche fans are sure to enjoy. "This album marks a shift into progressive metal, and we re extremely excited for people to hear it" says Michael Phillips on the musical direction and journey on 'III'. Lyrically the words and topics covered on 'III' are not for the faint of heart. Covering such topics as The Ark of the Covenant and The Nephilim Agenda the band is not afraid to speak from the heart and tackle some very controversial topics, topics that many of today's Christian artists shy away from. Eli Prinsen says Don t take my word for it, do your own research, seek the truth through prayer and your eyes will be opened on the lyrical content of 'III'. 'III' will definitely strike a few nerves, which means this is the release you MUST hear in 2012! ...

  • III is the latest release from the Christian metal band The Sacrificed. They have a couple new members, including guitarist Michael Phillips and bassist Daniel Cordova. This album is a little more intense and potent than their first two. After an intro, III kicks in with Falling, a bombastic track that transitions into a slower section, before kicking back in with an extended guitar solo. It's a good representation of the album, with elements of traditional, power and progressive metal. The guitar work on the entire CD is top-notch, with plenty of solos along with potent riffs and creative fills from Phillips and Mike Detrick. The songwriting leans toward the technical on The Nephilim Agenda. Things are more straightforward on Straight Up, a 3 minute dose of mainstream metal. As on the rest of the album, the soaring vocals of Eli Prinsen are very distinctive. He hits some really high notes, even into King Diamond range at times, but also dials it back to a more regular power metal singing style. The ballad Words On The Gin nicely showcases a more reserved vocal style. You'll hear elements of Queensryce's Geoff Tate in Prinsen's voice, so it's only natural they cover the band's Before The Storm. And while the band overall does have Queensryche influences, you can also hear European power metal and harder edged traditional metal in their DNA. The Sacrificed tackle some interesting lyrical topics on III, and their Christian beliefs are reflected in songs like Behold The Power Of God. Music fans of all stripes can enjoy III, a diverse and well-played CD. --About.com
